Sakrete Concrete Calculator
Sakrete High-Strength bag count by slab, footing, or column
What is sakrete concrete calculator?
A Sakrete concrete calculator translates project dimensions into the number of Sakrete bags you need. The math uses Sakrete’s published yield of 0.60 ft³ per 80-lb bag from the High-Strength Concrete Mix Technical Data Sheet (sakrete.com/products/high-strength-concrete-mix). 60-lb bags yield 0.45 ft³ and 40-lb bags yield 0.30 ft³ — same ratios across the product line.
Sakrete’s product range. High-Strength (gray bag) is the workhorse — 4,000-5,000 PSI at 28 days, suitable for slabs, footings, and most residential pours. 5000 Plus is a higher-strength variant (5,000+ PSI) for structural applications. Maximizer is lightweight, yields more per bag (~0.75 ft³), and is great for repair work. Crack Resistant adds polypropylene fibers — same yield, better tensile resistance. Fast-Setting sets in 40 minutes; ideal for fence posts and emergency patches.
Pick the right product for the job. For a backyard patio, High-Strength is the right call — strong enough, cheap, and stocked everywhere. For a fence post in a hurry, Fast-Setting is worth the markup. For a 4 in slab where weight matters (rooftop deck, second-floor pour), Maximizer reduces dead load by ~25%. The bag count from this calculator assumes standard High-Strength yield; for Maximizer, multiply the result by 0.8.
Don’t worry about brand math. Sakrete and Quikrete publish identical 0.60 ft³ yields for their standard mixes. The strength specs are within 5% of each other. The right brand is whichever your local store stocks at the lower price. Where Sakrete shines is the Maximizer product — a niche they own.
Hardware store reality. Sakrete is the dominant brand at Lowes; Quikrete dominates Home Depot. Most independent yards stock both. If you’re ordering online, factor in delivery — bagged concrete weighs a lot, and the per-bag shipping fee can exceed the bag price.
When to use a sakrete concrete calculator
- Sakrete High-Strength pour — 5,000 PSI rated, 28-day cure. The standard 80-lb bag yields 0.60 ft³ per the Sakrete TDS. Most hardware stores stock this product.
- Sakrete Maximizer (lightweight) — Yields 30-50% more volume per bag than standard mix. Great for repairs and small slabs where weight matters. The yield calc uses standard mix; subtract ~25% bag count for Maximizer.
- Sakrete Fast-Setting — Same volume yield as standard; sets in 40 minutes. Use for fence posts and emergency repairs where you can't form-and-wait.
How to use the Sakrete Concrete Calculator
- Verify the product — Sakrete Concrete Mix (gray-and-yellow bag) is the standard 0.60 ft³/80-lb yield. Maximizer (lightweight, blue accent) yields more per bag — order 25% fewer.
- Pick a shape and enter dimensions — Slab/Pad for flat pours, Footing for rectangular footings, Column for sonotubes. The calculator handles unit conversion.
- Read the bag count — Output is prefixed with 'Sakrete' so you can copy directly into a shopping list. The count includes the 10% waste factor.
- Check the TDS for product-specific yields — Specialty Sakrete products (5000 Plus, Crack Resistant, Fiber Reinforced) use the same 0.60 ft³ yield. Confirm at sakrete.com/products before stocking up.
